What have you been up to since you left Akademeia?

I have published my band’s album on streaming platforms and moved onto forming a new public persona for myself as a solo artist. I am currently reshaping my sound and image for further releases, supplementing my studies with various volunteering opportunities at music festivals in London and participating in numerous open mics around Brighton. I really enjoy being part of the city’s lively music scene.

How studying at Akademeia helped you prepare for university?

The academic focus taught me patience and independence, provided research skills and unique knowledge which differentiates me from my peers and lends itself as a point of reference and key characteristic of my new music. Moreover, the experience of playing in the Akademeia school band made me improve my communication and ensemble skills.

What are your three favourite things about Akademeia?

The teachers, the conversations, the architecture.

Looking back at your own school time, what advice do you have for current Akademeia students?

Make the most out of your time; don’t be afraid to change your mind and always follow your heart. Trust that everything will be okay; appreciate the knowledge you’re getting. Process is everything; if you commit to the work the end result will come and may even surprise you.

What are your projects for the future?

I am working towards my first single release at the end of 2020 and developing my social media presence under the name of Aesthe. I’m improving my session musicianship as a violinist and a drummer in a new band. I am planning on more songwriting collaborations and more volunteering opportunities at festivals, such as the Great Escape. I aim to finish writing my concept album and eventually move to London as my degree progresses.
