What comes to mind first when you think about opera?
Possibly that you need to dress up and go to a fancy theatre in order to see a chubby person singing very loudly. Indeed, opera is an art form burdened with stereotypes: many think it is stiff, incomprehensible, and outdated.
Why then are others willing to travel the world, almost fanatically following their favourite opera stars, and pay sometimes ridiculous amounts for opera tickets? Why do they keep wanting to hear the same pieces, some as old as 400 years, over and over again?
In this lecture, we will examine the different facets of opera which make it a truly ultimate art form, one that brings all types of human expression into one. The hope is that, if you haven’t seen an opera before, you will want to do so!

Śpiew solowy i aktorstwo, Uniwersytet Muzyczny Fryderyka Chopina w Warszawie
Aleksandra realizowała program brytyjskiej matury A Levels w Clifton College w Bristolu. Następnie ukończyła studia na kierunku Music w Trinity College, University of Cambridge, podczas których śpiewała w chórze Gonville & Caius College. Brała udział w trasach koncertowych chóru na całym świecie, m.in. w Azji i USA, oraz nagrała 3 płyty, występując także jako solistka. Obecnie studiuje Śpiew solowy i aktorstwo na Uniwersytecie Muzycznym Fryderyka Chopina w Warszawie w klasie prof. Jolanty Janucik. W muzykologii Aleksandrę najbardziej interesuje problematyka psychologii postaci w operze klasycystycznej i romantycznej, a także estetyka przedstawicieli Młodej Polski w muzyce.
