Year 13 Students Presenting their Extended Projects

Year 13 students brought a year’s worth of work to an end on Wednesday 17th of November,  presenting their Extended Projects to groups of staff and students. The audience were treated to talks on Economics, Medicine, Physics, Art, Biology, Law, History, Politics and many others.  Students talked passionately about their chosen subjects and were able to answer some very difficult questions on their presentations.  Project Coodinator, Mr Liam Higgins, praised students for their hard work and commitment in completing this challenging extra work, and thanked the supervising teachers for their support.

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is a course designed to compliment A levels and to stretch students beyond the A Level curriculum by encouraging them to conduct in depth study into a subject of their choice. It can take the form of a 5,000 word mini dissertation, conducting and writing up an experiment, creating an artefact, or through a performance.  It is highly regarded by elite universities across the world as it allows students to develop strong academic skils as well as developing highly specialised knowledge about a subject of their choice. Students are awarded a external qualification worth half an A Level for the project.
