Last Friday we had the great honour to welcome Prof. Karol Modzelewski under our roof.
Prof. Modzelewski is a historian, writer, politician, professor of the humanities, the legend of the Solidarity opposition. During the 1980 strikes, he came up with the name of ‘Solidarity’. Together with Jacek Kuroń he cowrote the Open Letter to the Party, for which he was imprisoned for three years.
He agreed to run a lecture “Państwo policyjne i opór społeczny: dawne doświadczenia i współczesność”, within our Friday Enrichment Program.
