On Monday 23rd Nov, our Y11 History of Art students attended a Tate Britain online lecture on the new Turner’s exhibition called, ‘The Making of the Modern World: War’.
Read our student’s testimonial:
‘Lecture focused on the ways in which the perception of war was changing throughout the times Turner was painting and how his innovative approach to art allows us for a better understanding of 17th century Europe. Despite the scarcity of knowledge I had about Turner beforehand, I was easily able to jump on this Romantic wagon and explore more about his life through the lens of his unique art. The lecture not only allowed me to discover more about Turner himself but also to find one of my favourite Romantic paintings, “Snow Storm: Hannibal and His Army Crossing the Alps”, which I have grown to enjoy contemplating in free time. Overall, I found it a very enjoyable experience’.
