Akademeia High School organises Summer School courses open to all school students to participate in.
These courses are devised, developed and delivered by our highly experienced teaching staff and cover a wide range of disciplines and faculties across the school. Lessons are complemented by a variety of co-curricular options, including sports and cultural excursions away from the school. In common with our year-round operations, the summer programmes are informed by our teaching philosophy and overriding mission to help each student reach their full potential and achieve academic excellence.
We welcome students from all over Poland and beyond as we offer boarding for students participating in the English for Academic Proposes and Social Sciences Summer School courses.
“The Summer School is an intellectually stimulating and fun taste of academic life at Akademeia. It is ideal for students who are keen to experience what it’s like to study here for the first time, as well as for our current students looking to engage in inspiring materials away from the core syllabus.”

In addition to teaching English for Academic Purposes, Andrew is responsible for Akademeia’s Summer School. English language teaching has been Andrew’s primary focus since leaving university, a career which has taken him to Poland, France and Portugal, working most recently for the British Council. Outside of school and family life, Andrew is keen on politics, philosophy and a wide range of sports, especially golf and cricket.
In 2020, we offer the following courses:
Creative and Dramatic Writing Summer School
The Creative and Dramatic Writing Summer School is an exciting opportunity for students who want to develop their creative writing skills. Led by teachers with extensive experience of writing fiction, drama and poetry, developing scripts for stage and screen and producing theatre, this one-week course is ideal for students who wish to pursue this subject in the future or who just love to write!
The English for Academic Purposes Summer School is an exclusively designed, intensive two-week course for students aged between 13-17, ideal for those who wish to improve their language skills. The course provides comprehensive and holistic training in a range of active and passive skills, including writing, speaking, and listening.
Our Mathematics Summer School develops students’ abilities in the subject responsible for some of civilization’s most prized achievements. Through a series of presentations, lessons and workshops with our highly skilled and enthusiastic faculty staff, you will be equipped with practical skills in various mathematical topics.
The Medicine and Biochemistry Summer School exposes students to a contemporary range of practical exercises from across these two vital areas of science. The course promises to increase your awareness of the world around you and will leave you with a set of new skills by working with a combination of medical professionals and chemists who each have something unique they wish to share.
The Social Sciences Summer School takes students on a two-week interdisciplinary journey, touching on subjects including Politics, Geography, Sociology, Psychology and more. This is the perfect opportunity for talented all-rounders keen to explore one of the contemporary world’s most pressing issues, human migration, from a wide range of different perspectives.
Coming at the end of the school year, Akademeia’s Summer School provides a balanced timetable for students, combining a high-quality academic focus with a varied co-curricular programme.
Sport and co-curricular activities are built into the school day, with sessions led by our own Sports Department staff or teachers. Available sports will include basketball, volleyball, badminton and much more!
Boarding and welfare
For students enrolling on one of the two-week courses (Social Sciences and English for Academic Purposes), there are a limited number of boarding places available in accommodation a few minutes walk from Akademeia.
Experienced staff will be on hand to support students staying away from home. Accommodation is available from 28th June to 11th July 2020 and, in addition to the weekly educational excursion, boarders will have the opportunity to go on a full day excursion on the weekend of 4th and 5th July.
Each evening boarders will also be offered a group activity, ranging from team building exercises to film nights, in order to ensure they get the most out of their stay with Akademeia.
