Małgorzata Róg
Student of Mathematics, University of Cambridge
What have you been up to since you left Akademeia?
I am studying mathematics at the University of Cambridge. I also use my free time (mostly vacations) for self-development (such as doing computer science courses).
How studying at Akademeia helped you prepare for university?
Studying at Akademeia helped me with the gradual transition between teacher-led learning and one based more on individual work. Akademeia developed my ability to learn and think in English which makes studying abroad much easier.
What are your three favourite things about Akademeia?
The freedom of choice of what I wanted to learn; the support that I received on each step of the university application process and – most importantly – amazing teachers that not only know a lot about their subjects and teaching methods, but also are generally interesting and friendly people.
Looking back at your own school time, what advice do you have for current Akademeia students?
Try to find something related to your favourite subject that you can do just for fun – not related to school work. Your teachers surely will be able to advise you on that. It will help you to feel much more motivated, because your aim will be not only passing the examination, but really discovering your subject.
What are your projects for the future?
At the moment I want to gain experience about the application of mathematics to problems related to data analysis and see if I want to pursue this as my career.
