Solving Problems

Through the analysis of a given subject by applying the principles and rules of mathematics, we are able to solve problems of calculation and geometry, as well as the tasks of logic, economics, and issues in many areas of everyday life.

The best thing about the Maths department in AHS is the teachers. I find that anytime I don’t understand something, the teacher goes out of their way to explain the topic in a different manner until I understand. I also love how willing the teachers always are to help and provide extra materials or information that isn’t in the curriculum.

Mathematics within the A Level system can be developed in many different directions.

Most classes concern the area of pure mathematics – a strict and precise science, still free from unnecessary formalism at this stage.

At the same time we attach great importance to applied mathematics: the strict application of mathematics in statistics and probability, mechanics, and the introduction to algorithms and programming.

At Akademeia High School we believe that Maths is a crucial part of the contemporary world; hence, it is compulsory to study the subject during the first years here. We want our students to study Maths courses that fit their individual academic needs. Our alumni have a well-developed intuition, which enables them to understand Maths on the level they find useful in further education and work.

Your path in Maths will be directed by exceptional and experienced teachers who are keen to show you graphical explanations of algebraic routes you will need to take while solving problems. After some time, it becomes so natural to think in a graphical way that it’s really hard not to do that. Even if you haven’t made friends with Maths in the past, you’ll soon find the classes to be a breeze.
