Akademeia High School offers a British curriculum of IGCSEs and A Levels. Our recruitment process is treated primarily as an opportunity for us to learn as much as possible about candidates for our school. In accordance with the innovative design we have also created a unique recruiting process unlike any other in Poland.

During the upcoming online recruitment weekend in June, students can apply for:

  • Year 9 – for a preparatory One-Year programme before they start the regular Akademeia High School curriculum.
  • Year 10 – for the Four-Year Programmecomprising two years of iGCSE taught alongside our own assessed courses, followed by the Two-Year A Level programme, as in the United Kingdom (Years 10 – 13).
  • Year 12 – for the Two-Year Programme of A Levels (Years 12 – 13).

Why choose Akademeia?

Akademeia is an international boarding school in Warsaw, offering a British curriculum of iGCSEs and A Levels. We offer young people a combination of academic excellence, co-curricular activities and individual pastoral care to help develop their talents, passions and life skills and provide the best possible preparation for life both at university and afterwards.

All of our teachers are experts in their fields, with qualifications from the world’s most prestigious universities, including Cambridge, Oxford and Ivy League. Their passion, experience and educational background are the intellectual bedrock that lays the foundation for our students’ successes.

In 2019, our students achieved excellent A Level results, with 74% of grades being A*/A. With this result, Akademeia would be placed in the top 25 of Independent schools in the UK. 100% of our 2019 leavers were accepted to the world’s best universities, including Cambridge, LSE, UCL, and New York University. We have a special SAT exam course for students interested in applying to US universities.

We care deeply about our students’ wellbeing because we believe good emotional and psychological wellbeing is a key requirement for academic success and more importantly for a fulfilled and happy life.

We can host students from all over Poland and Central and Eastern Europe because we have a modern boarding house and dedicated pastoral care.

The stages of recruitment

During the various stages of recruitment, we aim to learn as much as possible about the skills and aptitudes of the students.

Parents can contact our Admissions officers by e-mail or by phone to learn more about how the school functions, the requirements of the academic programme, the school’s teaching philosophy and the later stages of the recruitment process.

Stage 1

Take part in the online recruitment weekend.
The recruitment process lasts for two days and is conducted over the course of a single weekend. Our recruitment (assessment) weekend includes:

  1. University style lectures in English supplemented with tests to check the students’ abilities to learn and understand new content, analytical thinking, the ability to draw conclusions, and the ability to compare data.
  2. English Language competence testing.
  3. Individual meetings with subject teachers: we check not only a student’s knowledge but also, more importantly, their approach to study.
  4. Mathematics test.

The cost of participation in the recruitment weekend is 2 000 PLN.

Stage 2

At the end of the process, the parents and the student receive a tailored report to be discussed at an individual meeting. The report outlines recommendations for the student’s educational path, based upon the student’s optimal learning style, needs and predispositions, as well as guidance for further development.

Stage 3

Decisions regarding admissions are based on the final report.
