Year 13 EPQ

Year 13 Students at Akademeia celebrated outstanding academic success last week with their Extend Project Qualification (EPQ) results. Of the 17 students who entered a project 100% were awarded A* to A grades (10 A* and 7 A).

To further illustrate the success of our students please note that in 2021 in UK nationally 26.8% of students were awarded A* grades, and  56.5% graded A.

An EPQ is an academic project which is designed to extend a student’s abilities beyond the A level curriculum and develop their independent research skills.  The EPQ titles demonstrated the wide and varied scholastic interests of our students including dissertations on “How and why is the Universe going to end?” and “How does online content personalization affect democracies?”. Other students completed scientific investigations into making an automated sensing system for investigating traffic pollution and art based projects about video games design. Projects were also written on topics in Art, Biology, Economics, History, History of Art, Film, Law, Psychology, Physics and Sociology.

EPQ Co-Ordinator Mr Higgins said:

It is testament to the hard work and commitment from our students and their staff supervisors that these outstanding results have been achieved. Well done to all involved.
